What is a Spam Folder or Spam Filter?

The Spam Folder (Or Spam Filter) on Bummer Mail, is used to catch or stop unwanted, unsolicited email or spam. (Also see "How do I stop SPAM?")

Be aware, of the "Spam Report". The Spam Report is sent out, up to two times per day, if you are receiving spam. The Spam Report allows you to select Legitimate email that ends up in your spam folder and WHITE list it. If you have actual spam listed, simply ignore it. It will delete itself from your Spam Folder after a few days. Any time you receive NEW Spam into your spam folder, a notice will go out (up to two times per day) via the Spam Report. With the Spam Report, you never have to login to check your spam folder.

Most email accounts have the Spam Folder activated by default. IF your spam folder is NOT activated, you will need to do the following:

#1. Contact us via your Tech Support admin. Ask that your spam filter or spam folder be enabled on your bummer email account. Please specify which or what email addresses you want the spam folder enabled for. Please be aware: We cannot activate or enable spam folders for an email that is not hosted by us. We can only enable this for your domain email that you host with us. Example: yourname@yourdomainname.com

#2. Once we have enabled your spam filter or spam folder, then you will need to:

.....1. Login to your bummmer mail account.

.....2. Go to -> settings -> server rules -> and check to see that the "enable box" is checked. Once this is done, you will know your spam filters are ready to go.

.....3. Check your spam filter, via your bummer mail account, on a daily basis for a while. You will need to be sure that legitimate email is not inside the spam folder. If you DO see legitimate email inside the spam folder, then click on it like you would do to read the email. Then click the Green Check Mark (If you roll over the green check mark you will see it says "white list"). After you do this, any other emails you receive from this address will not be put into the spam folder. They will go to your inbox. Check your spam folder every day or so for about one or two weeks to be sure there is no legitimate email there. After this time you should not have any problems. To be sure, you shoud look at your spam folder occasionally to be sure no legitimate email that you haven't "white listed" yet is there. Your spam folder will empty itself every few days.
